‘This long black chiffon dress with an inlaid ‘tattoo’ pattern from the 1987 collection was specifically created for Naomi Campbell. It took six months to make and was a homage to both Madeleine Vionnet and Josephine Baker. Alaïa never allowed any other model but Naomi to be photographed in the dress’. Photographed by André Rau
